did i reblog this? I should reblog this.
I’m reblogging this.
OKAY SO I HAVE TO ADMIT, I was a little surprised when the show went for Mako/Korra, since in the first couple episodes, it really seemed to be gunning toward Korra/Bolin. They just seemed to “click” personality-wise, whereas Mako seemed a little too rigid for her tastes. I DON’T MEAN THIS IN AN UNKIND WAY. I really liked Mako in the first couple episodes - I completely empathized where he was coming from in the “responsible older sibling” perspective. But we come back around to the point that bad writing makes for uninteresting and boring characters.
I was into Makorra through episode 3. I was like, “here’s Mako who could teach Korra a thing or two about responsibility, and here’s Korra who could lighten the load Mako clearly feels he’s holding,” and then it went NOWHERE.
NO.
WHERE.
Was that the date episode? Because the date episode is what ruined it for me. I suppose they were trying to go for a character who’s young and inexperienced and so wrapped up in his responsibilities that he’s repressing the reality of his feelings, but, like…you don’t tell your younger brother you don’t have an interest in the girl he likes and then get involved with her anyway (while dating another woman, to boot!). It’s kind of a dick move.
LMAO
